Assertive Training Needed

Ok, I hope this isn't too personal.  Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment.  You know...the woman kind.  It's been two years since my last pap test...I know, I know...not too smart of me.   I decided to try somewhere different...a medical practice with mostly female physicians.  Anyway, the doctor I saw was very nice.  I was examined.  And, no pap test was done.  What?!  Why not?  Well, the doctor told me that since my last pap test was normal two years ago...I was okay to wait another year before having one done.    She said to me, "is that okay?"  And I said, "sure!"  The problem is, it wasn't okay with me.  I went in to get a pap test and left without getting one.  Plus, it was my first time at this practice...shouldn't I have had a more thorough, more complete exam?  Instead, she took my word that my last exam was normal and two years ago.  I guess I'm most frustrated with myself.  Why can't I ever stand up for myself?  Instead, I just nod and agree.   I will just have to work on being more assertive.  I've always gone for a yearly pap...this was the first time I've ever been told you can go three years between pap tests.  Have you ever heard this before?

On a more postive note....Brady and I enjoyed some time together on Monday.  We went to the park and fed the ducks and had a picnic lunch.  He really wanted to just go play tennis Monday morning....but since there are so many other things to do in life...I told him we had to go to the park first before going to play tennis!  He loves feeding the once he was there, he was fine.  We ended up staying two hours.  (And then,  we headed to the tennis court for two hours.)

We're going away this weekend...same place we went last year!
So, I will catch up with all of you next week!
Have a good one!

Easter Pictures

These are a few of my favorite pictures from the weekend.
I wanted some family pictures on Easter...but then forgot to get the camera out!
Brady still loves finding plastic filled eggs on Easter morning and looking for his Easter basket.
It baffles me that he still believes in the Easter bunny!
He always wants to go to bed early so he is sure to be asleep before the Easter bunny arrives.
I might have a hard time lying if he came right out and asked me if he is real or not.
I mean really...a big furry bunny hopping around all over the world
delivering baskets of candy and stuff?!  Oh well, I will enjoy it as long as I can!

I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday weekend!

*Brady asked me earlier today if the Easter bunny is a boy or girl....I told him I didn't know.
So then, he decided to google it.  I was afraid of what he might find out!
Eventually he gave up...he said he will draw a picture next Easter of a boy bunny
and a girl bunny and if I could have the Easter bunny point to which one he/she is!

Happy Friday!

Is it Friday already?!   Sorry I haven't been around much!
I only subbed once this week....but can I tell you how much I am loving it!  I just feel really
good and excited on days that I have worked. I love the kids, I love getting dressed up and I love being around other teachers.  Next week I am working two days.

I've been wanting to try these rainbow cupcakes for a year now...and finally got around to making them.
Eric helped me divide and color the cake mix.  It was a little time consuming...but I think Brady's class enjoyed them.

I put this together for Brady's teacher.  I found the idea over
at Eighteen25.  So easy and inexpensive.

Brady's class had an Easter egg hunt out on the 2nd grade playground.

We're very much looking forward to our four day weekend!
Today we have Brady's tennis lesson, haircuts, and shopping for a birthday gift.
Tomorrow we have a birthday party and coloring Easter eggs!
On Sunday we are going over to Grandma and Grandpa's house.
They are looking forward to having Easter dinner in their brand new home.

I wish all of you a Happy Easter!

Fun Easter Ideas

Last year I made these carrots for Brady's class.
I found the triangle bags at at paper supply store and
filled them with cheetos.  The kids really liked them.

I love these Easter rocks that Rachel made.
They are made out of foil...can you believe it?!

Peep cookies by SweetSugarBelle!
Find the step by step instructions HERE.

Val made this jelly bean bark.
Only two indredients that's my kind of easy!

I love these rice krispy pops!
Put a cellophane bag and ribbon on each one
and they make a cute take home treat for classmates.
(You could even buy the square treats instead of making them to save yourself a step....
not that I would ever do this...hee hee!)

I found this aluminum foil egg dyeing technique
at Family Fun...I think we'll give it a try!

So, there you have it...some fun
Easter ideas...
I'm hopping to try a few of them!

Have a great week!

Hi Ho Hi Ho....

I ordered this tote from Thiry-One and it came in the mail the other day...
I love it!  There were so many patterns to choose from...I had a hard time deciding
which one I wanted.   The colors are really fun and it's the perfect size for packing my lunch.
Why do I need to pack my lunch?   Well......

After being home for 8 years, I am heading back to work!  I'm subbing at the elementary school.  Last week, I did title one tutoring.  Tomorrow I will be filling in for the school secretary.  Obviously, it's only part time as needed...but, I'm hoping something more permanent will open up in the future.  I will have to wait and see!

I have loved being able to stay home all these years.  It definitely wasn't the plan.  The plan, was for me to stay home with Brady  just the first year.   We didn't think beyond that and didn't think it would be possible financially.    That first precious year came and went...and the thought of me going back to work never crossed our minds.  It wasn't something we even talked about.   We cut lots of corners and made sacrifices along the way...and we wouldn't have had it any other way.  When I think of how blessed I have been to be home full time with my one and only child, I am overcome with emotion.  I am one grateful mama!

Since Brady started school 2 1/2 yrs. ago...I have been home alone during the day.  It was a big adjustment for me the first few months with him being gone all day.  I was lonely, and felt like school had taken my little boy from me.   Of course,  I got over it and have come to enjoy my alone time.  My husband has always enjoyed me being home too.  We meet for lunch a couple times a week and he takes days off here and there so we can hangout/ go shopping together.  He has always supported me in whatever I have wanted to do.   And, it's because of him that I have been able to be home all this time.

So, hi ho hi to work I go!

I'm excited and ready!

Watcha Cookin'?

Some of you asked what I had in my bowl on Sunday!

It's roasted potatoes and veggies.
You can find the recipe HERE.

Someone within my circle of blog friends posted
the recipe on their whoever it is, please let me know
because you definately deserve the credit!  This recipe is a
KEEPER for sure!!  I will probably make it again before
the week is over!

Cathy @ checkitoff is the one who shared this delicious recipe- thanks Cathy!
I should have known she was the one who posted this healthy recipe!
She's been on a roll lately with eating healthy and working out big time!
Cathy lives about 10 minutes from my family in Ohio, where I grew up.
It really is a small world out there!

3 yellow potatoes
2 sweet potatoes (or butternut squash)
red onion
yellow and red bell pepper
thyme & rosemary
1/4 cup olive oil
1/3 cup lite balsamic vinegar dressing
salt and pepper

Mix everything together and bake at 475 degrees.
Bake for 35-40 minutes.

The recipe called for butternut squash...but I added sweet potatoes instead.

Along with this dish, Eric cooked steaks on the grill.  We don't have steak too often here.  It's usually something we have once in awhile on the grill in the summer.
Brady wanted to know if we could have steak every couple of days.
I explained to him that steak cost more money and so we would only be having it once in awhile.  I told him I would try and buy it a little more often if it's on sale.
Later, Brady brought me his wallet of savings ($95.00) and wanted to know if he could buy us more steaks!  Poor guy!

Ten on Ten: April

Ten photos in ten hours on the tenth of the month.  Trying
to find the beauty in the ordinary moments of your day.

I remembered around lunchtime that today was 10 on 10!  I have missed/forgotten the last few I wanted to try and participate this month.  Nothing too exciting going on took up about six hours of our it didn't leave much time for  anything else.  Nonetheless, it was a great day.

You can visit ten on ten HERE to join in the fun!

A Year Of Headers!

This was my very first blog header.
I made it in Picasa.  I really had no idea what I was doing...
but I knew I needed something to get my blog started!

Sarah at Clover Lane has a great tutorial for making headers.

A few months after I started blogging, Jen posted
a tutorial on making headers on

It took me a while...but when I finally figured it out...
I was pretty excited to change my header!
The scrapblog website has tons of free patterns
and papers and stickers for creating headers.
I could spend hours on that site!

As soon as I was getting familiar with Scrapblog,
I started having trouble loading my headers into
my blog.  I still haven't figured out what I am doing of these days I will try it again.

Anyway, back to Picasa I went!

How do you create your headers?
I'm always up for learning new ways!

Have a great weekend!
